It ships in a convenient vacuum packed form.
After opening the foam quickly resumes it's shape.
The cover is a little tricky to get on but doable.
On the cover the stairs and back are a very soft textured materiel.
The sides of the cover are a soft fine corduroy.
The base of the cover seems like nylon with traction dots.
It can be used as pet stairs or as a wedge pillow for reading or watching TV in bed.
In my case I need this one more as a wedge pillow.
It is very comfortable and supportive.

?These steps are perfect for our pup. Just took a little getting used to as he usually jumps up onto the bed, but now he loves it. We are trying to save the wear and tear on his joints. The steps are a little shallow so going down he does slip a little. I would like to see more defined steps, but otherwise a great product. Was impressed by how much the foam expanded to fit in the cover. Like that the cover can be removed to be washed.
